I love my family dearly, including those who came to partake of a Mother's Day lunch of roast beef and all the trimmings and chocolate fondant pudding with poached pears - yum!
But - it was still nice to nip to the allotment for half an hour and dig over the potato bed whilst the boys cycled around the garden and OH did the washing up.
I am sparing you the picture of a dug over potato bed - I kind of guess you might have seen one before. I took one for posterity though - bare weed free soil is a bit of a rarity on my plot - the moment needed to be recorded.

It sounds like you had a lovely well deserved day. I agree it's lovely to dig and have a patch of earth all ready for planting. I spent four and a half hours on my plot yesterday. I dug another trench for some more asparagus. It's all in now and I can't wait to see it grow. I ached all over today.
ReplyDeleteI personally think a little soil porn is good! You worked hard, you should be proud of yor beds xxx
ReplyDeleteI have just finished four, 2 m X 3 m raised beds ....I have taken lots of pics as they look sooooo good!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful Mother's Day. So do you follow tradition and plant your potatoes on St.Patrick's Day or Good Friday, or are you like me and get them in when you've got time?
ReplyDeleteThanks fora all the comments!
ReplyDeleteRe: potatoes, Good Friday would be my usual choice but I'm going to wait for the soil to warm up a bit more so I'll give it an extra week this year I think.
Oh I think I need to see that picture...just as a reminder and a kick uo the butt for me to get my potates in!!!
